The Organisation of conferences and workshops is one of EMN's main activities. Such events are an excellent occasion to discuss challenges in the microfinance sector in Western Europe, stay informed about recent events, and meet people involved in the field.
EMN views conferences and workshops as a concrete way to share practical experience, to compare practices, to better understand problemes encountered by members, and to bring such topics into a wider European perspective.
The first conference was co-organised with the European Commission, with EMN taking an active role in holding two days of workshops and training. The conference took place in Brussels in September 2004.
The second conference was held in Barcelona, in October 2005, with two pre-conference training days. This second edition of the EMN Conference was co-organised with two of our Spanish members, Fundació Un Sol Món de Caixa Catalunya and Obra Social »la Caixa», and with the support of the European Commission and the Levi Strauss Foundation.
The third EMN annual conference has been organised this year in Budapest, Hungary, from 7 to 9 June 2006, in partnerhip with the MFC and with the support of the Hungarian Microfinance Network. This was the biggest conference ever in the region.
